Waterman's to the Wall

Every year towards the back end of the surf year, the Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club celebrates the season that was with the “farewell to Summer” iconic Watermans to the Wall classic open water swim. Spanning the shoreline from the scenic Watermans Bayto the Hillarys Marina wall, the 2.4k course takes on some of Perth’s most picturesque coastline. Marine life abounds but the star attractions are the dolphins who are often seen frolicking along the course.

The event is targeted at a broad spectrum of athletes–from elite top lodders having the thrill of a lifetime. For the serious swimmers there is the 2.4k long course, for the teams there is a two-leg category each at 1.2k. Then for the sprinters and the “have-goers”, there’s the 1.2k short course. The Event is run by members of Sorrento SLSC, who are water loving beachies. You’re in safe hands as Bronze Medallion surf rescue personnel patrol the water and the foreshore ensuring youhavea safe swim.

Experts on JetSkis, IRB’s, Surf Skis, Row Boats, and Surf Rescue Boards are never far from you as they keep a careful watch on all the swimmers. The mass of safety craft on their own are a spectacular site and then the many hundreds of swimmers just add the finishing touch to an awesome occasion.
