Bronze Medallion Course – March 2025

The March Bronze Medallion Course is coming up and it’s your final chance this season to become a certified surf lifesaver (except for youth). 🏖️
The Bronze Medallion course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to participate in Surf Life Saving patrol operations. This is the core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia. The course covers a wide variety of practical and theoretical components that are required for competency as a surf lifesaver.
The course is open to all financial members aged 15 and over.
KEY COURSE OUTCOMES:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- SLSA signals
- Risk Assessment analysis
- Recognise appropriate safe beach zones
- Basic first aid skills relevant to the aquatic environment
- Various rescues techniques including tube and body board rescues
- 200m run / 200m swim / 200m run (8 minute time limit)
- 400m swim recognisable stroke (9 minute time limit)
- Online learning modules
- Radio Operations
- Rescue Carries
- Plus a range of skills, knowledge and competency across procedures, team work, relevant communication, reporting, time management and more.
The course runs for 6–8 weeks with both theory and practical elements. To earn your Bronze Medallion, you’ll need to pass a final assesment.
📅 Important Dates:
- Pre-qualification swim of 400m swim recognisable stroke (9 minute time limit): Saturday, 1st March 2025.
If you are unable to attend the pre-qualification swim on this day we will be able to coordinate another time with you.
- Theory sessions: 6.30pm – 8.30pm Tuesdays @ club, from 4th March for 6 – 7 weeks
- Practical sessions: 7am – 9am Saturdays @ club, from 8th March for 6 – 7 weeks .
Final Assesment will be determined closer to end of course.
