Silver Medallion Patrol Captain Course – calling all Bronze Holders (18-23 November)

This course aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to confidently manage a beach and a patrol as a Surf Life Saving Patrol Captain and to take on other leadership roles within the club. The skill sets don’t just apply to Patrol Captains, but also to all Bronze Medallion holders, especially those who may be interested in future leadership roles.

The course covers the following skill sets:

• Act as a team leader
• Undertake work activities and accept responsibility
• Set performance requirements and maintain team performance
• Contribute to team outcomes and support team cohesion
• Brief and debrief patrol teams
• Communicate with management
• Prepare for beach surveillance and rescue
• Undertake preventative actions
• Complete beach surveillance and rescue recovery requirements
• Respond to casualties in distress

• Handle difficult conversations

In addition to online training, there will be three in person sessions that participants will be required to attend, held at Mullaloo SLSC:

• Monday, 18th November – 6 pm to 9 pm
• Wednesday, 20th November – 6 pm to 9 pm

• Saturday, 23rd November – 8 am to 2 pm

Pre-requisite:

• Be 17 years or older and hold a Bronze Medallion Award
• Completed the online modules:

· Go to eLearning

· Go to training library
