Silver Medallion Patrol Captains Course
This course provides experienced and qualified patrolling lifesavers with the skills and confidence to contribute to the safe and efficient management of patrols as a Patrol Captain. It’s a highly valued skill and an excellent way to enhance your leadership capabilities while giving back to the club and community.
Course Details
Session Dates and Times:
- Wednesday, 20/11/24: 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM @ Trigg Island SLSC
- Wednesday, 27/11/24: 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM @ Trigg Island SLSC
- Saturday, 30/11/24: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM (duration depends on participant numbers; allow at least four hours)
Note: Attendance at all three sessions is mandatory.
Pre-Requisites
- Be a currently financial member of a surf life saving club
- Be at least 18 years old
- Hold a current SLSA Bronze Medallion
- Have at least one full season of patrol experience
- Be endorsed by your club’s Lifesaving Manager or equivalent
- Complete the eLearning online (including assessments) and provide a printed or PDF certificate
- Complete and bring the Leadership Workbook
- Download the Operations App and access the Surf Risk Rating (SRR)
- Complete the On The Job component before attending the course
Learning Materials
- Online learning resources are accessible via the Members Area portal.
- Additional materials will be advised.
Assessment Requirements
- Successful completion of eLearning activities (online) – includes the theory component to be completed before the first session.
- Submission of the On The Job Log of experience during the course.
- Completion and submission of the Leadership Workbook during training.
