The SLSWA Drone Operator Course prepares members to safely and confidently support patrol operations using approved SLSWA drone procedures. This training covers essential airspace rules, risk assessment, flight planning, and practical operation skills tailored to beach environments and Surf Life Saving activities.

Operators learn how to conduct drone flights that enhance patrol visibility, improve hazard identification, and assist with search operations. The course follows SLSWA’s standard operating procedures and CASA requirements, ensuring every flight is compliant, controlled, and aligned with lifesaving best practice.

Completing this course enables members to contribute to safer patrols, support Patrol Captains with real‑time aerial information, and strengthen SLSWA’s capability to monitor coastal conditions and respond effectively during incidents.
