This course provides participants with skills and knowledge of surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations and resuscitation to participate in lifesaving operations and act in the role of Water Safety Personnel.

Pre-requisites

Participants must:

• Be a current financial member for the 2026/2027 season
• Be 13 years old on the final assessment date
• MUST without exception attend ALL sessions
• Must complete a 200m Qualifying Swim in less than 5 min.

Online SRC Course opens 31 August (3 weeks prior)

· Mon 21/09 – Intro Session (5:30pm – 7:00pm, Training Room)

· Tues 06/10, (8:30am – 12:00pm)

· Wed 07/10, (8:30am – 12:00pm)

· Thurs 08/10, (8:30am – 12:00pm)

· Fri 09/10, (8:30am – 12:00pm)

· Sun 11/10 – Final Assessment

Compulsory:

All sessions are compulsory. If you miss a session, please note that the group is unable to stop and repeat content just for you. If you do miss a session, you will be asked to defer to the next SRC Course / Assessment. Please do not sign up for the course if you already know you will not be able to attend all sessions.

FAQ

Pre‑Qualifying Swim:
200m in 5 minutes or less.

Assessment Swim Requirements:
Run–Swim–Rescue in 3 minutes 30 seconds:

• 100m run
• 100m swim with rescue tube (fins allowed)
• Tube rescue + 100m patient tow (not timed)
• Assist patient to water’s edge
  This will be practiced during the course.
