Aussies 2022:
To say that I was proud of our Youth Athletes at Aussies this year would be the understatement of the year. The hair on the back of the neck is still standing from being at the sprint track and watching Ava, Jayden, Lily & Akayla bring home gold in the sprint relay. Adrian added next level entertainment live streaming back to WA. All of our Youth team in the surf, beach and R&R conducted a fantastic campaign and represented in the best way possible. A huge thank you to Adrian, Rhian, Graham and Michael supporting the team and making it such a fantastic experience. Bring on Aussies 2023!! We are looking forward to having more of our youth competing next year and culminating in Aussies on our home turf.
SLSWA Youth Awards:
Congratulations to the following youth that have had their outstanding achievements this season recognised by SLSWA. They have been invited to the SLSWA 2022 Awards Night in October (dates to be confirmed), where they will be recognised and will go up against other WA clubs for the chance to take out these awards. We are super proud of you and wish you success and luck on the night.

LAST SUNDAY SESSION Recap: 28th March 2022
Awesome turnout with 62 Youth checking in. Fantastic to see all our youth lined up to cheer on the little nippers in their Presidents Marathon, seems like a long time ago since our group were starting that journey! Thank you to our Youth that headed over to the Juniors Presidents Marathon to help out with water safety. Great job in what looked like very cold conditions with the wind, Thank you.
The unanimous call from Youth last week was to play Pirate Pete as the warm-up. We managed to get through that with no injuries to the age managers!
Thanks, Sven, Matt, Rick, and Martin for running the Accumulator. Team 6 edged out Team 4 by 2 points!! Both teams completed 12 swim courses, the difference being Team 6’s 18 x Wade Laps. A close comp with the order being: 6, 4, 2, 3, 1 5. Thanks, Tim and Hal for running the Touch Rugby arena and Darren for some serious Dodgeball.
We hope that all Youth have had a fantastic season and look forward to celebrating it with you on the 30th April. Good luck to ALL our Youth traveling to Brisbane this week to take on Aussies 2022!! Go Team Green.
YIP
Congratulations to the 60+ Youth that took part in the YIP program for the 2021/22 season, we hope you have enjoyed earning your points!

SEASON 2021 / 2022 Recap:
We finished up the season with an average of 58 Youth checking into the 21 Sunday Sessions that were run this season! This compared to an average check-in last season of 33 Youth. What we saw this session was not only greater numbers on the beach participating in the club swim and session but also youth that helped out our junior groups as water safety and age manager. Increased participation in training, carnivals, patrols, ski programs, have-a-go days. Our largest # of youth on any single Sunday Session this season was 99! We are out to beat this in 2022/23 season and to continue to develop our youth program and pathways offered to be the best!
While Sunday was our final Youth Sunday Session for season 2021/22 please don’t forget you have a few more things to do before we officially finish!
30th April: Youth Windup – this is held at the club and a notice will be posted on face book / newsletter and sent via email with details closer to the date and once we understand what restrictions are in place. Food will be provided, there will be awards and this is the date where we hand out the YIP rewards and recognise the fantastic contributions by all of our Youth. We will also be thanking all of the parents involved in the Youth Committee and Youth program on the night. It is our night! And want to make this a fitting close to our season. Please keep the evening of the 30th April free.
Off Season Sports & Training – Please keep watching Face Book posts. And if you haven’t already joined the Sorrento Groups on Face Book please do so: Sorrento SLSC – Youth, Sorrento SLSC Surf Athletes and Sorrento Beachies. If you haven’t been getting emails please send in your updated email address to Jess at admin and Jess will make sure the Youth Committee add it to their list.
Many thanks
