In the run-swim-run event, competitors begin by running a set distance along the beach, then wading and swimming out to sea, around a set of buoys and back to the beach. The race ends with another run to the finish line. A surf race is similar, but with greater emphasis on the swim leg.

Junior, developing and adult fitness swimmers:

The club offers training with accredited coaches (H2O Fitness Academy) to provide swimming training as an additional service to its members and a greatly reduced cost (in comparison to similar programs). It aims to enable members to improve their swimming skills, stay fit and support life saving and competition requirements.

3 sessions per week are on offer- Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Saturday Afternoons.

Venues include Craigie Leisure Centre and Carine SHS.

Participating members are asked to contribute to the costs of running this service by paying Coaching fees as required.

Minimum swimming requirement for Juniors: Please note that Junior swimmers will need to have completed an Assessment prior to attending and should bring a copy of their completed Level 7 Swimming Lessons Certificate.

Swimmers will be required to complete an application form and medical declaration prior to attendance.

Competitive, youth and senior swimmers:

The Sorrento SLSC also has a relationship with the City of Joondalup Swim Fit Program at Craigie Leisure Centre for age group and competitive swimmers. This program is managed by our own coaches Andrew Ridley and Nikki Rogers. Separate guidelines apply for this program.

Most of the clubs water athletes and swimmers swim with this program.

Sessions are conducted at Craigie Leisure Centre weekday mornings and three afternoons per week.
