Whether you want to patrol the beach, help at the canteen, coach nippers, serve on a committee, or simply lend a hand at events – Sorrento SLSC has a role for you.

Surf lifesaving clubs run on volunteers. At Sorrento SLSC, we’re always looking for people who want to contribute to the club and the community in whatever way suits them best. You don’t need a Bronze Medallion to make a difference – there are dozens of ways to get involved. Age Manager

Age Managers are the heart of our Nippers program. Each age group (from Under 6s through to Under 14s) is guided by an Age Manager – usually a parent – who runs the Sunday morning activities, oversees water safety, and helps create a positive experience for the kids in their group. The role requires completion of an Age Managers Course, run annually through SLSWA. No surf lifesaving experience is required beforehand – just enthusiasm and a love of the beach. Competition Official

Competition Officials help run our surf sport carnivals and state events. Roles include marshalling competitors, starting races, recording results, setting equipment courses, and assisting with event logistics on the beach and in the water. To become a Competition Official, you’ll need to complete a Competition Officials Course run by SLSWA. No prior experience is required – it’s a great way to stay involved in the sport without competing.

Education Awards

Expanding your surf lifesaving qualifications is one of the most valuable things you can do as a Sorrento member. Awards available at the club include the Surf Rescue Certificate, Bronze Medallion, Nipper Rescue Certificate, and a wide range of advanced qualifications in first aid, resuscitation, IRB operation, and patrol management. Canteen, BBQ & Event Volunteers

Some of the most important work at Sorrento SLSC happens behind the scenes. We regularly need helpers for our canteen and BBQ on patrol Sundays, as well as for major club events throughout the season. No qualifications required – just a willingness to roll up your sleeves. Club Committees

Sorrento SLSC is governed by a range of working committees including our Junior Activity Committee, Youth Committee, Competition Committee, and Education Committee. These groups meet regularly to support specific areas of club life and report to the Executive Committee. Committee roles are open to members who want to have a voice in how the club is run.

Club Executive Committee

The Executive Committee oversees the overall management of Sorrento SLSC. Executive positions are elected at the Annual General Meeting and typically suit members with experience in leadership, finance, administration, or relevant professional backgrounds. If you’re interested in standing, speak with the Club President to discuss current vacancies and the election process.
